Safety First: Industrial Fluid System Checklist

Return to Main

Safety First Topic:

Specify the Right Components

Today there is a vast selection of manufacturers and products, which can make material selection difficult. In addition, process conditions are important to consider in your fluid system. For instance, a fluid system that generates a static charge, you would want to use a hose with a conductive metal core, or carbon-filled PTFE core, to dissipate the static charge. Furthermore, the components in your fluid system need to be compatible, and share similar strength in material to stay connected.

Process conditions and material strength isn't all to consider. The environment in which your fluid system is surrounded by can impact the condition of your materials. The most common condition is corrosion, which can incur additional cost when you consider replacing and installing new materials. There are steps to prevent corrosion in both oil and gas, and marine applications, which require a fundamental understanding of corrosion and what causes it.

Selecting a dependable manufacturer of quality products can ease
the pressure of building reliable fluid systems.
