Pressure Proof: Swagelok Medium-Pressure FK Tube Fittings

Return to Main

Looking for a fitting that can handle the rigour of medium-pressure service (up to 20 000 psig), with easy installation and maintenance? Look no further than Swagelok’s line of medium-pressure tube fittings.

The How

Swagelok Medium Pressure FK Tube FittingsSwagelok® Medium-Pressure, Gaugeable Tube Fittings and Adapter Fittings – the FK Series – offer a simple, two-piece design consisting of a female fitting body and a preassembled cartridge containing the male nut and colour-coded front and back ferrules. The preassembled cartridge ensures correct ferrule orientation, visual confirmation of ferrule presence, and proper installation of the female body. Components are released only after the nut is threaded finger-tight on the fitting body.

The Swagelok medium-pressure tube fitting offers a leak-tight gas seal and vibration resistance in applications up to 20 000 psig (1378 bar). The novel technology includes features such as:

  • Patented low-temperature case hardening processing of the ferrules, plus the specially designed ferrule geometry, which promotes a patented hinging-colleting™ action
  • Easy installation, by specified turns or torque
  • Simple two-piece construction; body and cartridge
  • Leak-tight performance on a variety of tubing types and materials
  • Strain-hardened stainless steel bodies offer lightweight, space-saving designs
  • Extensive Swagelok product test reports and third-party test reports

Upon installation, the front ferrule creates a leak-tight gas seal, repeatable each time the fitting is re-made. The back ferrule provides robust tube grip and enhanced vibration protection critical for severe, medium-pressure service. The Why

One of the biggest advantages to incorporating Swagelok medium-pressure FK tube fittings in your fluid system is time. We all know time is correlated to cost, a key variable in the determination of profitability. Compared to traditional cone and thread fittings, the FK fitting provides increased reliability and reduced installation and maintenance time.Swagelok Medium Pressure FK Tube Fittings

Swagelok FK fittings eliminate the need for special tooling and skills. Installers are no longer required to cut, cone and thread tubing which can be a lengthy process, potentially subject to error. Further, upon initial installation of Swagelok FK tube fittings, the installer is able to check their work. The medium-pressure gap inspection gauge assures the installer or inspector that the fitting has been sufficiently tightened and is ready for service.

Higher pressure and temperature service requirements demand more from your fluid systems. That’s why we’re making it easy. With a capable, vibration-resistant design standard, easy installation, breadth of product selection, and available NACE compliant Alloy 625 material, Swagelok medium-pressure FK fittings can handle the pressure.
