Confidence Under Pressure

Return to Main

When Swagelok acquired Innovative Pressure Technologies in September of 2012, they grew into the market of medium- and high-pressure fittings with a competent and competitive offering capable of meeting increasing demands in the marketplace and pressures up to 60,000 psig. The acquisition was about more than fittings though: “The IPT acquisition allows us to offer a more robust valve portfolio,” said Art Anton, President and CEO. In addition to the coned and threaded fittings and tubing, the valve product line includes ball valves, double block and bleed valves, check valves, needle valves, and relief valves with maximum working pressures ranging from 10,000 psig to 60,000 psig, depending on the valve style and end connections.

Swagelok IPT Valve

A Valve For Every Application

Swagelok’s medium- and high-pressure IPT valves are designed to meet the requirements of demanding applications such as alternative fuel industry infrastructure; process control; instrumentation; chemical sampling; waterjet cutting; and oil and gas applications such as wellhead control panels, hydraulic control panels, grease injector units, blowout preventers, and chemical injection skids. With a variety of configurable options around orientation, end connections, materials of construction, actuation and accessories, as well as available Canadian Registration Numbers (CRNs), Swagelok IPT valves offer end users increased flexibility and ease for integration.

The Details Matter

Swagelok IPT ValveWhere safety and reliability are everything, 99.9% certain isn’t enough. So when the expectation is a continuous and safe operation and the pressure is at its highest, Swagelok medium- and high pressure valve products deliver. Our medium-pressure, trunnion-style IPT ball valve is no different. Manufactured from strain-hardened 316SS and available with multiple end connection styles and sizes, the valve has a pressure rating up to 20,000 psig. The bottom-loaded stem design eliminates stem blowout which enhances operator safety. The trunnion-style ball with direct load design seals consistently across a full range of pressures, even if the system is depressurized and re-pressurized. This also helps ensure reliable operation for improved actuation of control systems. Additional materials of construction are available for sour gas service (NACE MRO175/ISO 15156) in H2S-containing environments where sulfide stress cracking, stress corrosion cracking and other mechanisms of cracking caused by H2S are prevalent.

We’ve Got a Class For That

Swagelok IPT ToolsSafe, leak-free operation of any high pressure system depends on preparing and installing connections correctly. Our Swagelok Medium- and High-Pressure Cone & Thread Essentials Training introduces the fundamentals of medium- and high-pressure systems. Participants will learn how to prepare, cut, cone, thread and inspect tubing as well as the correct procedures for assembly and re-assembly of both medium- and high-pressure cone and thread fittings. The course is ideal for field operators and installers to get comfortable with the process and offers a good opportunity for engineers to gain a practical understanding of cone and thread connections. The course is a half day and upon achieving an acceptable standard in both practical and theoretical examination, participants receive a certificate of completion. The training is typically held at our training facility, but we can also provide training at your site. Contact us at 403-243-5646 or check our website to find out when our next training session is scheduled.

Many suppliers can sell you a fitting. Some can deliver valves and accessories too. Fewer are willing to fight the elements with you, manage complex projects, and ensure compliance at every step. Swagelok brings it all together – bundled with on-site support and the training to make the best fluid system connections possible. Let’s work together; give us a call today or start a conversation with us through our Service Request Form.
